Hi, I’m Andrea,

Product Designer at Control Risks

I design dashboards, internal tools, and data visualisations for web and mobile. Currently scaling a design system and leading accessibility efforts. Previously worked with a National Geographic-funded nonprofit and a med-tech startup.

NX is a startup focused on helping users reduce or quit nicotine. I was the sole designer behind a proof-of-concept app that played a key role in securing investment and forming distribution and supply agreements.

Mobile

Med-tech

Worked across seven projects, including dashboards, internal systems, and network graphs. Drove accessibility standards and design system development.

Saas / Enterprise UX

Risk management

Co-designed a clearer, faster observation validation experience for two user groups — backed by three National Geographic grants and contributed to legal protection for five marine mammal species.

Environmental

Co-developed a design system at Control Risks that increased efficiency by 85%, streamlined workflows, saved developers time, and was adopted by 2 departments.

Design Systems

Cross-department collaboration

What matters most to me is going beyond designing screens. I focus on building scalable systems, fostering collaboration, and championing accessibility. I lead design system initiatives, streamline team workflows, and advocate for data-informed, inclusive UX.

Here is a glimpse of some initiatives I led to boost UX maturity, strengthen collaboration, and speed up product delivery.

Design system ownership

  • Led the design system initiative across the company.

  • Built 18 out of 23 components.

  • Created full documentation for design and engineers.

  • Presented the value of the system to senior leadership and stakeholders.

  • Tracked adoption and created a contribution model.

Design–dev collaboration

  • Advocated for improved Figma organisation and design handoff to streamline collaboration with the wider team.

  • Created process flows to align four engineering teams, improve consistency, and accelerate product delivery.

  • Regularly join sprint retrospectives to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement.

Research & data advocacy

  • Independently led usability tests that influenced stakeholder perception on the importance of research.

  • Pushed for data over assumptions, explaining value to stakeholders.

  • Leveraged AI tools to speed up research workflows.

Accessibility leadership

  • Initiated and led accessibility efforts across products.

  • Ran audits, created checklists, and trained team members.

  • Shared learnings from conferences/events.

  • Continue to embed accessibility practices into everyday design.

The UX playbook

I built a library to track everything I learn, from accessibility guidelines to UX research insights and design patterns. It’s grown into a shared resource with over 200 notes that help the team make faster, smarter decisions.

Over 200 notes covering accessibility, health conditions, business insights, Figma tips, communication strategies, UX, UI, and more!

Bringing knowledge in

I regularly attend events on design, accessibility, AI, and architecture, from Government Digital Services and Google to Monzo and King’s College, to stay ahead and share actionable insights that shape our work and promote continuous learning.
